When I was 12 years old I watched a movie in my 8th grade music class called ‘War Dance‘ and this movie ignited a spark in my life for non-profit work – soon after seeing this movie I became interested in photography and bought my very first camera. Now, nearly ten years later, that spark is now a fire and I’m so passionate about these things that I’ve decided to dedicate my career to them.
I’m starting this blog because I want to share this passion with others and grow the ideas I have into world changing actions. I want to start a photography business and allow it to thrive. I’ve decided that this blog is solely focused on my photography and the wonderful stories that come along with each photo I take. I also want this blog to be a testament to the decision I have made to dedicate everything I can to begin a company that is focused on photography and non-profit work. I have a lot under wraps but in order to unveil the dreams I have, I have to build a photography business from the ground up. I’m so thrilled to finally start this journey and to share it publicly. By sharing publicly the dream I have to become a freelance photographer, I am hoping to grow support in the process.
I hope you choose to join me on this journey whether it’s through me taking your photos, business advice(nice and harsh), spreading the word about this business, or encouragement and prayer – I’ll take it all.
The name of this business will be Kefita – this is an Amharic word meaning Summit. I love the idea that everyone has mountains to climb and the hard work it takes to reach the top, this is a testament to the work that will go into this business and how joyful that process will be. Not to mention its Ethiopian influence. 🙂
Thank you so much for taking the time to read and I hope you are as stoked as I am.
